Name That Dragon Blog Hunt: Jaiteru Faerwyng

Picture Welcome! As the 7th stop in the Name That Dragon Blog Hunt, this post contains a clue. It is your job, as the reader, to identify the dragon described. Please remember your answer to this puzzle, as well as any past and future ones within this tour. You will need to know ALL the answers to enter for the chance to win the Grand Prize of a sterling silver Celtic triquetra on a 16in chain and a preorder code. Fire of Stars and Dragons by Melissa A. Petreshock is available for preorder as of February 28 and the Kindle version can be purchased at Amazon ahead of April 29 when it will be released from Swoon Romance to Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Kobo! Until then, you can also add it on Goodreads and check out the book trailer. This post is all about Jaiteru Faerwyng, by far quirkiest and most lovable of the Draceopraesi in my opinion. With a heart of gold and striking image, Jai can go from pleasant albeit cryptic conversation to a battle as a ruthlessly protective mage dragon in a second. Even among the Dracopraesi he’s considered a bit odd, so I have a fabulous interview with Melissa to uncover what the mysterious Jaiteru Faerwyng is up to.

While all of the Dracopraesi are swoon-worthy—to say the least—what stands out most about Jaiteru Faerwyng, appearance and personality wise?

In his appearance, Jai is smaller than the other dragons, in either dragon or human form. He stands maybe all of 5’9” at most, and unlike his brothers, his entire upper body from waist to neck and down to his hands is covered in black vine tattoos he believes cover him as appropriately as a shirt. Of course, his stark white-blond hair and big intense blue eyes stand out too. Jai has a warmth about him and a good-natured personality. Whereas the other dragons are perhaps a bit jaded to the world around them because of how long they’ve lived, Jai still finds the world fascinating and observes everything with a unique inquisitiveness.

What role does Jai play surrounding Cait? Jai has unique skills and insights that allow him to help Cait see certain things from a perspective no one else could offer.

Jai is special, even among dragons—how has his past life reflected this and what role does he hold within his supernatural world?

Like I mentioned, Jaiteru Faerwyng has unique skills and insights. As if being a dragon in a world where only 396 exist isn’t special enough, he’s a Mage. Jai’s life before you meet him in FIRE OF STARS AND DRAGONS has been spent with the Fae, which is common with many Faerwyng dragons. Most of their wards tend to be Fae or of Fae descent. They have a different culture than what you see in human society either now or in the 22nd century when the book is set, leading to some peculiarities. His tattoos and belief they are fully acceptable as a body covering in place of a shirt is a characteristic held over from Fae customs and societal norms within their culture. He also has a heavily accented and broken English when he speaks, which is not terribly often. The Fae have their own language, which he’s accustomed to speaking, and English just doesn’t come naturally to him. (I’ve been told by the All-Stars (my beta team) that Jai is a lot like a dragon version of Yoda from Star Wars.) He also has expectations of behavior that come from living among the peaceful Fae. Jaiteru Faerwyng is a voice of reason and wisdom, a guide, a counselor, and a peacemaker… but don’t mistake that for weakness. He’s still a dragon and a very dangerous one. He’s a badass in ways you cannot imagine.

There’s Jai! On the March 19 you can catch him in a character interview, courtesy of Mary Waibel, with another of Cait’s dragons, Clifford Pendragon. This dragon is in charge of all technological aspects of her security. He is considered the “most prudish of the lot.” But really, he’s as lovable as Jai. Finally, don’t forget about the Rafflecopter! That’s where the exciting giveaway for three preorder codes for Fire of Stars and Dragons is happening.

And of course, make sure to find the clue in this post so you can find the answer in the next post! Collect the names of every dragons serving as an answer to be eligible to win the Grand Prize, a sterling silver Celtic triquetra on a 16in chain and a preorder code! The first book in the NA Fantasy Romance trilogy Stars and Souls by Melissa A. Petreshock releases April 29, 2014 from Swoon Romance to Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Kobo.

FIRE OF STARS AND DRAGONS

PictureFollowing the death of her vampire uncle, twenty-one-year-old Caitriona Hayden finds herself in the midst of a trio of quintessential alpha male suitors in 22nd century sovereign America where human females should be seen and not heard. Theo Pendragon claims her as his ward, ordained to guard her through to a long-awaited destiny unbeknownst to Cait, but finds more than he expected when passion ignites within the dragon for the first time. Always drawn to the pursuit of knowledge rather than the heat of desire, powerful demigod Dante cannot deny everything his future holds in Caitriona. America’s monarch, ancient vampire Corrin, has no interest in the frivolity of love, yet marrying Cait could be the answer to his continued survival. Soon, Cait goes from studying for college exams to choosing a husband in seven days, knowing the consequences are eternal, the love undying, and the bond timeless.
